Overview:

She is known as "Stripes" If you like original survivors, then this is truck for you. This is 1979 US spec original paint FJ40. I’ve followed the truck since 2016. The truck came from ND and spent some time in WI but has been in UT now since 2019.

"Stripes" is an awesome FJ40 with a professionally rebuilt 2F engine, transfer case, power steering, newer Old Man Emu suspension, rebuilt axles, new exhaust and lot more.​ There's a lot of charm and cool patina here as well as some typical bumps and bruises and a minor amount of "treated" corrosion in the rear quarters. These are pictured in the gallery.

The previous owner(s) have spent liberally on the mechanicals of this Land Cruiser FJ40. The list is long and impressive. She's had considerable cosmetic restoration as well. New upholstery, new headliner, rebuilt rear heater, new weatherstripping, new window felts, new door cards, Tuffy center console, Warn winch, and more.

Most recent improvements include:

• Transfer case rebuilt with a Sumo kit from Cruiser Brothers LLC, done locally by Tip Top Transmission, recommend by Cruiser Outfitters.

 

Service Performed at Mark Miller Toyota in Salt Lake City:

• New oil pan gasket, cylinder head gasket, adjusted valves plus other miscellaneous parts.

4Plus rear bumper with cooler/jerry and spare tire swing out.

• Refurbished Warn 8274 winch, new decals, serviced, new warn cable and hook, custom made oversized electric cables run through a Blue Sea shut off in engine bay.

• LED headlights, rock gaurds and OEM Toyota Fog Lights and switch with custom harness from City Racer LLC

• Toyota CB40 CB Radio and Toyota original AM Radio: Both AM radio and CB radio were refurbished by a well known Land Cruiser Forum member who also reproduced the original wire harness to connect the two and allow for the "stand-by" mode.  This allows the radio to play while using the CB. Incoming CB transmissions and/or keying the mic will mute te AM Radio. 

• The coolant system is all new; hoses, clamps, radiator, fan, fan clutch, temp sender, thermostat, new coolant overflow/washer fluid bottle.  Water pump was replaced by previous owner shortly before purchase.

​• Knuckles rebuilt with a kit from Cruiser Outfitters including bearings/races for hubs using koyo bearings and Marlin Heavy duty ECO seal axle seals + new gasket kit for warn hubs

• New tie rod ends (555 from Cruiser Outfitters), New Toyota power steering pump, rebuilt center arm (joint fuji kit from Cruiser Outfitters)

• Duralast Gold Battery and custom oversized battery cables

• FJ60 gear reduction starter- toyota reman

• Remanufactured alternator from Specter Off Road, new belts

• Air system; All new VCVs from City Racer LLC, new vacuum lines from Toyota & Specter Off Road for the larger ones, Rebuild smog pump from Specter Off Road

• Brake master cylinder (Aisin), new brake pads in front, all new soft lines

• Clutch master and slave cylinder (Aisin) + clutch fork return spring and bracket Specter Off Road

• Hood latches and hinges

• Tune-up refreshed items such as plugs, wires, rotor, cap, air filter, etc.
