This 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is powered by a 4.2-liter 2F inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck is finished in Dune Beige with a white roof over gray vinyl upholstery and features 15″ steel wheels, manually locking front hubs, power steering, a heater, a Kenwood CD stereo, and rear jump seats. The truck was purchased by the seller in 2018, and subsequent service is said to have included resealing the transmission and transfer case and replacing the valve cover gasket, oil pan and main seals, and clutch components. This FJ40 is now offered with the owner’s manual, service records, a tool kit, and a clean Missouri title in the name of the seller and their spouse.
The truck is finished in Dune Beige and features a removable hardtop with a white roof along with side mirrors, rear ambulance-style doors, and a rear-mounted spare tire. The seller reports the sill plates and rear quarter panels were replaced in 2019 and the door seals were replaced in 2020. Rust is present on the wheel wells, and a blemish on the roof and paint chips along the body can be seen in the photo gallery.
The 15″ steel wheels feature polished hubcaps and are mounted with BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires. Braking is from front discs and rear drums. Rancho shocks and a steering stabilizer were installed, and the truck is equipped with manually locking front hubs and power steering. The power steering pump and box were overhauled in 2019 according to the seller.
The three-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and frames an 85-mph speedometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 58k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter 2F inline-six is equipped with a single carburetor. A resurfaced exhaust manifold was reportedly installed in 2021, and the seller states the oil pan and main seals were replaced in 2023 along with the valve cover and exhaust manifold gaskets.
Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The seller notes clutch components were replaced and the transmission and transfer case were resealed in 2023. Corrosion is present on underside components, additional photos of which are provided in the gallery.
Manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a tool kit are included in the sale.
